CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - 

The Holland College Hurricanes men’s and women’s soccer teams combined to go 3-for-4 last weekend in Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association action in Cornwall.

The women split their two games, falling to 4-1 to Mount Saint Vincent on Saturday then recovering with a 4-3 win over King’s College on Sunday, while the men beat Mount Saint Vincent 2-1 and King’s College 6-2.

Holland College leads the men’s standings at 4-0. The ‘Canes women sit in second place at 3-1.

Both sides play next in road games Saturday at UNBSJ (2 p.m., women, 4 p.m., men) and Sunday at St. Thomas (noon, women, 3:15 p.m. men).

Women

Hurricanes 4, Blue Devils 3

On Sunday, the Jade Stewart and Kathrine McEwen scored a minute apart in the second half, broke open a 2-2 game and salted away the contest. 

The ‘Canes T-Anna Fraser and Sabrina Molna scored in first 20 minutes, but King’s College’s scored Erin Creaser scored twice and tied things up.

Miriam Burnett had the other King’s goal.

Mystics 4, Hurricanes 1

On Saturday, Stewart got Holland College off the good start with a goal in the seventh minute, but Mount Saint Vincent exploded with four unanswered goals and won the day.

Hannah Oatway and Jessica Oliver, each scoring twice, accounted for the Mystics offence.

Men

Hurricanes 6, Blue Devils 2

On Sunday, the Blue Devils Andrew Burroughs scored in the seventh minute to put UKC up 1-0, but a goal by Bobby Gamba and two markers from Theo Ngezahayo put Holland College ahead for good.

Simon Miller made things 3-2 in the 29th minute, but Aleco Iatrou, Ngezahayo’s third score of the game and Zach Lund powered the contest away.

Hurricanes 2, Mystics 1

Saturday, first half scores by Ehab Moustafa and Shunya Kobayashi were all the ‘Canes needed for the win.

The Mystics Chris Garagan cut the lead to 2-1 before the half and the team battled to a scoreless second half.
