X-Women score comeback victory over Panthers

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – The first-place St. FX X-Women scored four unanswered third period goals Saturday to defeat the UPEI Panthers 5-3 in Atlantic University Sport hockey action.

UPEI held 1-0 and 3-1 period leads, but Sarah Bujold scored 19 seconds into the third and Patti-Anne Tracey tied it about two minutes later. Alley Goodreau scored the winner with two minutes left before Bujold iced it with an empty net goal with one second remaining.

Rachel Colle scored twice for the Panthers while Lindsay Johnston had a goal and an assist. Leah Byrne, Kristen MacIntyre and Emma Martin each drew assists.

Amy Graham scored in the second for St. FX.

Cassidy McEwan stopped 22 shots for the win while Megan Sullivan made 18 saves in the loss.

UPEI was 1-for-6 on the power play while St. FX was 1-for-4.

The X-Women improved to 13-1-2 while the Panthers fall to 4-7-5. UPEI hosts Moncton Wednesday at 7 p.m.
