LANTZ, N.S. – The Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild made sure their final game of the 2017-18 season was a good one.
The Wild, with only pride to play for, blanked Newfoundland and Labrador’s St. John’s Maple Leafs 6-0 on Saturday morning to complete round-robin play in the 2018 Atlantic major midget hockey championship tournament at 1-3 (won-lost). The five-team event also included the provincial champions from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and the host Cole Harbour Wolfpack.

Team captain and defenceman Clark Webster, who was named to the tournament all-star team, scored two goals and added an assist to lead the Wild against St. John’s. Frank Fortin (1-1), Carter Cahill (1-1), Dixon MacLeod and Evan Gallant rounded out the scoring. Gallant, who had six goals and an assist for seven points finished in a three-way tie atop the scoring race at the end of the round robin with Dartmouth Steele Subaru’s Ozzie King (3-4) and St. John’s Nick Gosse (3-4). Gallant, who scored the most goals of the three tied players, was presented with the tournament’s top scorer award at Saturday night’s awards dinner. The Abram-Village native also received a $500 Telus Cup Scholarship Award.
Bradley Campbell, Chandler Wood, Ethan Beaulieu, Ryan Richards and Colby MacArthur were credited with single assists for the Wild.
Caleb Coyle registered a 31-save shutout.
The Wild, who lost 8-2 to Dartmouth, 4-3 to Cole Harbour and 5-2 to the Moncton Flyers, held period leads of 1-0 and 3-0.
