UPEI men's hockey team falls in shootout after rallying

The Acadia Axemen edged the UPEI Panthers 5-4 Friday in Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey at MacLauchlan Arena.

Acadia was leading 3-1 on goals by Tyler Ferry, Matthew Pufahl and Brett Thompson after two periods. Brent Andrews scored for the Panthers in the first period.

UPEI came out of the gate in the third period on fire.

Cody Payne, J.C. Campagna and Gabe Guertier scored successive goals to give the Panthers a 4-3 lead.

However, Stephen Harper scored at 17:09 of the third period to knot things up at 4-4.

Robert Steeves made 23 saves to pick up the win in net for the Axemen while Matt Mahalak stopped 21 shots for UPEI.
