MOUNT PEARL, N.L. – The Mid-Isle Wildcats sit at 1-2 (won-lost) after two days of play at the 2018 Atlantic midget AAA female hockey championship.
After a heart-breaking start on Thursday – a 1-0 overtime loss to the Northern Lightning from New Brunswick – the Wildcats bounced back to split a pair of games on Friday. The Wildcats downed Newfoundland and Labrador’s Western Warriors 3-1, and lost 2-0 to the Northern Subway Selects from Nova Scotia.
Mid-Isle will complete round-robin play against the host Eastern Ice Breakers on Saturday at noon. The third- and fourth-place teams at the end of the round robin will play in the bronze-medal medal game on Sunday morning, and the top two teams will decide the Atlantic representative at the Esso Cup national championship at noon.

Subways 2 Wildcats 0
Mariah Linehan and Camryn Halliday scored for the Subways.
The Nova Scotia representative held period leads of 1-0 and 2-0.

Wildcats 3 Warriors 1
Charlotte Linkletter was in on all three goals – one goal and two assists – for the Wildcats. Maggie Linkletter (1-1) and Sophie Flynn also scored while Kennedy Francis added a helper.
Julie Pink netted the lone goal for the Warriors.
Winning goaltender Hannah LeClair turned in a 36-save performance.

Lightning 1 Wildcats 0
Erike Plourde scored winning goal at 4:41 of the extra session to lift the Lightning.
