The Red Wings edged the Kensington Moase Plumbing and Heating Vipers 5-4 on Tuesday night to complete a home-and-home exhibition series between the two arch-rivals. The Red Wings blanked the Vipers 3-0 in Kensington on Sunday afternoon.
The same two teams will open the 2017-18 Island Junior Hockey League regular season at Community Gardens on Sunday at 7 p.m.
Two goals
At the Evangeline Recreation Centre, Connor Morrissey scored twice while Silas Handrahan (1-2), Jason Gallant (1-2) and Lucas Beaulieu (1-1) also dented the twine for the Red Wings. Chasse Gallant (2), Calvin McRae, Dillon Wall, Cole Hackett and Dawson McCormack chipped in with assists.
Garrett Murray (2), Easton Smith and Kyle Pinksen replied for the Vipers. Drew Grady, Riley Gallant, Cameron Nelson, Kyle MacGuigan, Campbell Gallant and Noah Stewart collected helpers.
The Red Wings held period leads of 1-0 and 4-2.
Colin Gaudette earned the goaltending win with a 25-save effort. Cameron Visser turned aside 28 shots for the Vipers.
