TIGNISH – Ethan Oliver and Oliver Smallman each scored hat trick and added an assist to pace the Western Regals to a 9-3 triumph over the Central Attack.

It was one of two games played in the P.E.I. Midget AAA Hockey League on Sunday. The other contest featured the Robin’s Mid-Isle Matrix getting by the Kings County Kings 3-1.

At the Tignish Credit Union Arena, Kalim DesRoches (1-1), Ethan Rix and Chandler DesRoches also scored for the Regals, who sit at 9-12-5 (won-lost-tied). Kane Arsenault (2), Tristan Cahill, Jax Harper, Jesse Hackett, Alex Hutchinson and James Doyle chipped in with assists.
Dylan MacDonald’s three-goal effort accounted for the Attack scoring. Emmett Lyons assisted on all three markers while single helpers went to Tyler Hashmi, Caden Kelly and Josh McKnight.
The Regals held period leads of 1-0 and 4-2.
Colin Gaudette earned the goaltending win.
The Attack’s record is 10-17-1.

Matrix 3 Kings 1
At Community Gardens in Kensington, Zac MacKay had two goals and an assist to spark the first-place Matrix (22-4-3). Nick Trainor (1-2) also contributed three points for Mid-Isle while Colin Goodwin (2) and Ben Peters added helpers.
Reid Peardon, assisted by Matthan Runighan and Jesse McGrath, netted the lone goal for Kings County (12-9-5).
There was no scoring in the first period, and Mid-Isle took a 2-0 advantage into the second intermission.
Winning goaltender was Matt Jelley. Ben Bruce was between the pipes for Mid-Isle.
