CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – Novice hockey in P.E.I. gets a makeover this season as the entire campaign will adopt the half-ice model introduced for the first half of last season.

The change aligns Hockey P.E.I. with many other branches in the country, including Hockey Nova Scotia and Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador, which have decided to go the same route.

From the beginning of the minor hockey season to Nov. 15, novice teams will focus on skill development through their team practices. Then half-ice games run Nov. 15-March 15.

All novice tournaments or jamborees will half-ice games.

A novice hockey guide for parents and minor hockey associations is available at www.hockeypei.com.
