Montague Stallions sweep first two home games in senior semifinal

MONTAGUE, P.E.I. – The Montague Stallions have taken a 2-0 lead in their best-of-seven North East Senior Hockey League semifinal with the Lameque Au Petit Mousse.

The Stallions won 11-4 on Saturday and 9-2 on Sunday. They travel to Lameque for games Saturday and Sunday for Games 3 and 4.

Goalie Wayne Savage picked up both wins.

Adam Laite had four goals and an assist, Chris Doyle had two goals and five helpers and David Mazurek chipped in six helpers to pace the Stallions. Nick Parker added two goals and an assist while Spencer MacDonald had three assists and Alex Peddle had a goal and an assist.

Matt Stead and Matt Myers also scored. Stephen MacInnis, Jamie MacIntyre and Dylan McGuigan each added an assist.

The Stallions held period leads of 3-0 and 8-2.

Laite and Mazurek each had two goals and an assist in Sunday’s win while Steven Brazil also potted a pair of goals.

Doyle had a goal and three assists while Justin MacDonald, Spencer MacDonald and Evan Morrison each added two assists.

Jesse MacIntyre and Stead each scored while Marshall Ellis, Devan Gunn, A.J. MacInnis, McGuigan, Myers and Parker each had an assist.

Montague led 3-0 after the first period and 4-0 heading to the third.
