MONCTON, N.B. – Janie Poitras and Katryne Villeneuve scored for Moncton in a 2-1 win over UPEI in Atlantic University Sport women’s hockey action here at the J. Louis Levesque Arena on Friday night.

It was the opening game of the regular season for both teams.

Sydney Baker’s unassisted power-play goal at 19:28 of the third period spoiled the shutout bid of Moncton goaltender Sabrina Lebrun, who finished with 20 saves. UPEI’s Megan Sullivan faced 26 shots.

Moncton led 1-0 after the first and second periods.
