CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – The Sherwood Metros scored five first-period goals and cruised to an 8-4 win over the Summerside Cover All Construction Crunch Monday in Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League action at Cody Banks Arena.

Brandon Sullivan (1-1), Owen Arsenault, Logan Toole (2-1) and Jake Arsenault laid the five-spot on Crunch starting goalie Connor Gallant.

Brechan MacLean (1-3), Brian Leslie (1-1) and Owen Arsenault extended the Metros lead over the second and third periods, while Patrick Kenny (4) and Hunter Boudreau (2) chipped in multi-assist games.

Sherwood moved to a league-best 10-1 with the win. It outshot Summerside 52-48, including 24-9 in the decisive first frame.

The Crunch’s James Birt scored the game’s lone power-play goal at 9:27 of the third. He added a second goal two minutes later.

Tanner Jamieson (1-1) and Kolton Stright had the other Crunch markers.

James Duffy earned the win over Gallant.
