McCardle records four points in Southside win vs. Crunch

CRAPAUD – CJ McCardle played a big role in helping the Southside Lynx record a weekend sweep in the Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League.

After the Lynx recorded a 7-5 road decision over the Belfast Sabres on Friday night, McCardle scored a hat trick and assisted on another for a four-point night in a 9-3 triumph over the Summerside Cover All Crunch on Saturday evening.
The result leaves the first-place Lynx at 15-3-0 (won-lost-overtime losses). Southside holds a five-point lead over the Sabres (12-6-1). Belfast was also victorious on Saturday, defeating the North River Flames 8-2.
Weather permitting, the Flames are scheduled to visit the Tignish Perry’s Construction Aces on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. This contest at the Tignish Credit Union Arena is a battle for fourth place as the Flames (9-8-1) are one point ahead of the Aces (9-9-0).

Lynx 9 Crunch 3
At the South Shore Actiplex in Crapaud, Daniel Colister and Brady VanderVelden had two goals and an assist for the Lynx, who held period leads of 3-1 and 6-3. Nick VanderVelden (1-1) and Frank Watts also scored while Garrett Murray and Colton Dawson contributed three helpers apiece.
Tanner Jamieson, Brady Anderson and Chad Steele countered for the Crunch (2-17-0).
Winning goaltender Tyler Bell made 22 saves.

Sabres 8 Flames 2
At the APM Centre in Cornwall, Keirsten Steele and Matt MacKinnon had two goals and a pair of helpers to lead the Sabres. Jordan Roche, Jordan Hambly and Stephen Gaudet chipped in with a goal and an assist. Cummiskey and Luke MacAulay each added two assists.
Sam MacPhail and Ethan MacFadyen countered for the Flames.
The period scores were 2-1 and 6-1 in favour of Belfast.
Jed Walsh stopped 33 shots in earning the goaltending victory.
