CHARLOTTETOWN – The Sherwood-Parkdale A&S Scrap Metal Metros scored two goals in the final five minutes of regulation time to defeat the Kensington Moase Plumbing and Heating Vipers on Wednesday night.
The final score of the Island Junior Hockey League game, played at the Cody Banks Arena, was 4-2.
Barrington Duffy’s goal at 15:16 gave the Metros a 3-2 lead, and Tanner Lund’s empty net goal with 15 ticks left on the clock sealed the win.
Jordan Birt (1-1) and Pat McGuigan also scored for the second-place Metros, who improved to 17-13-1 (won-lost-tied). Colin Koughan (2), Connor Gray (2), Zach Ladner, Nick Currie and Jack Connell added assists.

Easton Smith scored both goals for the third-place Vipers (11-15-4). Single helpers went to Tyler Gallant, Logan Vandervelden and Garrett Murray.
The teams were tied 1-1 after the first period, and 2-2 following 40 minutes.
The final shots-on-goal totals were 52-31 in favour of the Metros, including period advantages of 19-11, 18-13 and 15-7. Sam Walsh picked up the win while Rett Rook was between the pipes for Kensington.
