Islanders lose final game of road trip

RIMOUSKI, QUE – Colten Ellis made 35 saves to backstop the Rimouski Oceanic to a 3-1 victory over the visiting Charlottetown Islanders in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League play.

Captain Samuel Dove-McFalls, Charle-Edouard D’Astous each had a goal and an assist in the victory. Summerside native Carson MacKinnon and Dmitry Zavgorodniy each had an assist.

Nikita Alexandrov from Hunter Drew and Daniel Hardie replied with the Islanders goal.

Matthew Welsh made 29 saves in the loss.

The game was scoreless through the first period while Rimouski led 2-1 heading to the third and iced the game when D’Astous scored into the empty net with 22 seconds remaining.

The Islanders were 1-for-4 on the power play while Rimouski was 0-for-2.

Pascal Aquin served the first of his two-game suspension for leaving the bench for a fight in Friday’s loss at Baie-Comeau.

Rimouski improved to 29-12-4-1 while Charlottetown falls to 26-16-3-0 after dropping back-to-back road games in Quebec.

The Islanders host the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles Friday and Saturday.
