Wellington’s Evan Gallant scored three times Sunday as Prince Edward Island routed Yukon 13-0 in boys’ hockey

It was the Island’s first contest of the Canada Games in Prince George, B.C.

Jeremy McKenna and Kallum Muirhead each had two goals while singles went to Carson MacKinnon, Syl Yoston, Noah Dobson, Zack Thususka, Brodie MacArthur and Chris McQuaid.

Blake Jamieson and Thomas Casey each had three assists while Ryan Boswall, Thususka and MacArthur each had a pair. McKenna, Dallas Farrell, Jack DesRoches and Brechan MacLean all added one.

Luke Oliver stopped 15 shots in the shutout as P.E.I. held a 49-15 shot advantage.

Prince Edward Island held period leads of 4-0 and 7-0.

The Island plays the Northwest Territories today at 12:30 p.m. Pacific. Newfoundland and Labrador defeated the Northwest Territories 11-0 in Sunday’s other pool C game.
