HALIFAX, N.S. – The UPEI men’s hockey Panthers season is over.

The Saint Mary’s Huskies defeated the Panthers 5-2 Sunday in Halifax to win the best-of-three Atlantic University Sport quarter-final 2-1.

Hunter Garlent had a goal and two assists while Aaron Berisha and Anthony Repaci each had a goal and an assist. Dylan Diperna and Taylor Burke also scored while former Charlottetown Islanders forward Jake Coughler had two assists and Bronson Beaton added a single.

Marcus Power and Cody Payne scored for the Panthers with assists to Ryan MacKinnon, Kameron Kielly, Gabe Guertler and R.T. Rice.

Former Charlottetown Islanders goalie Eric Brassard made 20 saves for the win while Matthew Mancina stopped 25 shots in the loss.

Saint Mary’s held 2-0 and 3-1 period leads. UPEI was 1-for-6 on the power play while Saint Mary’s was 1-for-5.

The Huskies advance to play the top-ranked UNB Varsity Reds in the semifinal while the Acadia Axemen play the second-seeded St. FX X-Men in the other semi.
