CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – The Holland College Hurricanes will be seeking revenge this weekend as they host the UNB Red Blazers in a two-game set.
UNB beat the ‘Canes twice late last month in Fredericton, N.B.
Saturday’s game goes at 7:30 p.m. at the Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown, followed by Sunday’s contest at 11:30 a.m. at Credit Union Place in Summerside.
The ‘Canes (3-3) sit in second place in the Eastern Canadian Women’s Hockey League while UNB is 6-0 and in first place.
UNB won the first meetings between the teams 3-0 and 2-1.
Hurricanes forward Sam Higgins leads the league with nine points in six games, while Jess Redmond is third with five points.
UNB’s Nathalie Laplante, Kara MacDonald and Makayla Oatway are second and tied for third, respectively.
UNB goalie Kayleigh Robertson is 3-0 with three straight shutouts this season. Kate Northrup, also 3-0, has one shutout with a 1.00 goals-against-average (GAA).
Hurricanes goaltender Mackenzie Koughan is 2-1 with two shutouts and a GAA of 1.00, while Kara Mason is 1-2 with a 2.00 GAA.
The games are the matchups final games of 2017. League play resumes for the Hurricanes Jan. 13-14 against Acadia (1-7).
