The Charlottetown Islanders have made a couple of roster moves in preparation for Friday’s season-opening game of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

The Islanders host the Saint John Sea Dogs at 7 p.m. at the Eastlink Centre.

The team has sent defenceman Lucas Sangster back to his hometown of Amherst, N.S., to play junior A for the Ramblers.

“He’s a big strong kid that’s got lots of ability to play a certain role,” general manager Grant Sonier said. “In order for him to play his role and use his physicality, his feet have to improve.”

It also called up forwards Nathan Yetman and Malik Johnson from the Summerside Western Capitals. Both attended training camp this summer and played some games with Islanders in 2013-14.

“They know the system. They know the environment,” Sonier said. “When we let them go, we let them know our intention was to have them affiliated.”

The Islanders were still working Wednesday to find a goalie to pair with Daryl MacCallum this weekend.

Right-winger Bradley Kennedy is out for this weekend’s games after sustaining a concussion during Saturday’s contest with Saint John.

The Islanders have six players gone, or heading, to NHL development camps.

The list includes captain Ryan MacKinnon (Buffalo) and Mike DiPaolo (Columbus), both defencemen; goalie Mason McDonald (Calgary) and forwards Alexandre Goulet (Montreal), Oliver Cooper (Colorado) and Ross Johnston (Arizona).
