KENSINGTON – Five unanswered goals in the final two periods sparked the Mid-Isle Matrix on Tuesday night.
The Matrix went on to defeat the Eastern Express 7-2 in a P.E.I. Major Bantam AAA Hockey League game at Community Gardens.
The teams were tied 2-2 after the first period, and the Matrix took a 5-2 advantage into the final frame.
Reese Wyand (2-1) and Carson MacKay (1-2) each had three points to lead the Matrix, who improved to 1-2-0 (won-lost-tied). Michael McQuaid (1-1), James Harrison (1-1), Spencer Toole and Jacob Doucette also scored for Mid-Isle. Single helpers went to Matthew Mills and Will Mix.
Jack Campbell and Holden Bradley answered for the Express. Sam Parsons, Avery Brown and JT Wood drew helpers.
Josh Smith earned the goaltending win.
