BATHURST, N.B. – Samuel Meisenheimer’s second goal of the game at 15:46 of the third period lifted the Charlottetown Islanders past the Acadie-Bathurst Titan 4-3 on Friday night.

Rookie goaltender Dakota Lund-Cornish turned in a 46-save effort as the Islanders improved to 2-6-1-0 before 1,734 fans at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre.

Sullivan Sparkes and Matthew Grouchy also scored for the Islanders. Jeffrey Truchon-Viel (1-1), Adam Holwell and Justin Ducharme countered for the Titan. Noah Dobson of Summerside contributed two assists for the Titan (4-3-2-1).

The Islanders called up defenceman Jack DesRoches of Days Corner and forward Brock McLeod from the Maritime Junior Hockey League for Friday’s game. Saku Vesterinen, Will Bower and Taylor Egan did not play due to injuries.

Titan goalie Reilly Pickard faced 24 shots.

Charlottetown led 1-0 after the first period, and Acadie-Bathurst took a 2-1 advantage into the second intermission.
