Big weekend for Warriors

O’LEARY – It was a big weekend for the Prince County Warriors.

Chandler DesRoches recorded five points – three goals and two assists – in leading the Prince County Warriors to an 8-3 win over the Central Attack in P.E.I. Major Bantam AAA Hockey League play in Charlottetown on Saturday night.

The Warriors recorded back-to-back wins to move into third place in the four-team P.E.I. Major Bantam AAA Hockey League. The Warriors, behind an outstanding performance from goaltender Chad Arsenault, shut out the league-leading Eastern Express 5-0 on Friday night, and then topped the Charlottetown-based Central Attack 8-3 on Saturday.
The two wins upped the Warriors’ record to 3-13-2 (won-lost-tied), two points up on the Attack (2-14-2).

DesRoches leads way
At Simmons Sport Centre in Charlottetown, Chandler DesRoches netted three goals and assisted on two others for a five-point effort to spark the Warriors.
Austin Callaghan (1-2), Kalib Snow (1-1), Connor Keough (1-1), Austin Arsenault (1-1) and Parker Gallant rounded out the scoring. Zach Biggar, Ben Cooke and Kennedy Gallant drew helpers.
Devon Howatt and Owen Stewart countered for the Attack.

Aiden Williams registered the goaltending win.
The Attack was assessed five minor penalties and two double minors. The Warriors picked up two minors and one double minor.
The O’Leary-based Warriors are at the IceJam tournament in Halifax, N.S., next week, so the team’s next home game is not until Friday, Jan. 20, when the Attack visits O’Leary.
