AMHERST, N.S. – The Amherst Ramblers edged the Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals in overtime on Wednesday night.

The Ramblers pulled out a 4-3 overtime decision as both MHL (Maritime Junior Hockey League) teams dressed rookie-laden lineups for their first exhibition game.
The Caps are back in action on Thursday in New Glasgow, N.S., against the Pictou County Crushers. The Caps will host the Crushers at Eastlink Arena on Saturday at 7 p.m.
At the Amherst Stadium, Callum MacPherson, Josh MacDonald and Zach Thususka scored for the Caps, who jumped out to a 2-0 first-period lead. The teams went into the intermissions tied 2-2 and 3-3.
The Caps’ regular-season home opener is against the Woodstock Slammers on Saturday, Sept. 30, at 7 p.m.
