O’LEARY – Chad Arsenault, Alex Hutchinson and Max Chisholm played the lead roles for the Prince County Warriors on Friday night.
Arsenault turned aside all 42 shots he faced, Hutchinson, a defenceman, scored twice while Chisholm had a goal and two assists to spark the Warriors to a 5-0 win over the first-place Eastern Express in the P.E.I. Major Bantam AAA Hockey League. It was Eastern’s first loss to an Island-based team this year.
The win moves the Warriors into a third-place tie with the Central Attack. Prince County will face the Attack in Charlottetown on Saturday at 8:15 p.m.
At the O’Leary Community Sports Centre, Brady Sweet (1-1) and Chandler DesRoches also scored for the Warriors. Connor Keough (2), Zach Biggar (2), Austin Callaghan and Sam Hackett added helpers.
The Warriors, who directed 25 shots at Express goaltender Caleb Drake, built period advantages of 2-0 and 3-0.
The Express was assessed five of the game’s nine minors. The Warriors also picked up one double minor.
The Warriors are at the IceJam tournament in Halifax, N.S., next week, so the team’s next home game is not until Friday, Jan. 20, when the Attack visits O’Leary.
