The St. FX X-Men will play the UNB Varsity Reds in the Atlantic University Sport men's hockey final.

The X-Men scored four unanswered goals to defeat the Saint Mary's Huskies 4-3 on Wednesday in Halifax and win the best-of-three semifinal 2-1.

The victory also ended UPEI's chances of getting to the Canadian Interuniversity Sport championship in Halifax. Saint Mary's is the host team for the nationals, but had the Huskies won the semifinal, UPEI would have played St. FX for the final AUS berth at nationals.

On Wednesday, Saint Mary’s built a 3-0 lead 3:01 into the first period on two goals by Matt Tipoff and a single from Alex Cord. St. FX answered with power-play goals by Kristoff Kontos and Mark Tremaine before the first period was over.

Brad Cuzner tied the game 4:31 into the second and Eric Locke scored the winner midway through the third period.

Drew Owsley made 31 saves for the win while Cole Cheveldave made 33 stops in the loss.
