SUMMERSIDE – Heart And Soul reunited with trainer-driver Walter Cheverie Monday afternoon on his way to the winner’s circle in the featured event on the first card of the season at Red Shores at Summerside Raceway.
Owned by Riley Farms Ltd., of Summerside, Heart And Soul was on front at every call in the $2,100 top class on the Victoria Day holiday program with fractions of 28.2, 58.3 and 1:28.4, before recording a mile time of 1:58.2.
Second went to Mando Fun (Dale Spence) with Confident Fella (Corey MacPherson) third.
Allstar Seelster visited the winner’s circle in the $1,900 back-up pace in 1:58.2 for the team of driver Norris Rogers and owner-trainer Ed Harvey of Tyne Valley.

P.E.I. debut
Wilson Frost was a winner in his Prince Edward Island debut in 2:01.3 for driver Corey MacPherson and trainer Duane MacEachern.
Reinsmen David Dowling and Jason Hughes both recorded a pair of victories on the card to put themselves in an early tie for top spot in the Red Shores Summerside driving standings. Dowling clicked with Saulsbrook Coral in 2:00.2 for trainer Earl Watts of Hampshire, and Fleurje in 2:03.1 for owner Jessica Hawkins of Warren Grove.
Hughes’s two wins were with Royal Adventure in a 2:02.3 maiden-breaking score, and Relleno Hanover in 2:00.3, both from his own Charlottetown stable.
Live racing continues on P.E.I. on Thursday at Red Shores Charlottetown at 6:30 p.m., and Saturday at 6pm. Live racing returns to Summerside on Sunday at 1 p.m.
