NEW GLASGOW, P.E.I. – The 12th edition of the P.E.I. Acadian Golf Tournament returns to the Glasgow Hills Resort & Golf Club in New Glasgow Sunday, Sept. 10.

The event raises funds to ensure more than 100 young Francophones from P.E.I. can participate in the 2018 Finals of the Acadian Games.

“Last year, our popular tournament raised a record of nearly $7,000. This year, we would like to surpass that amount since our expenses keep (rising) and our revenues keep dropping,” says Alexandre Bodet, president of the P.E.I. Regional Committee of the Jeux de l’Acadie.

The Regional Committee, along with its organizing partner, the Acadian and Francophone Chamber of Commerce of P.E.I. (CCAFLIPE), are hoping sponsors and participants in this year’s tournament will be extra generous this year.

“We hope that a large number of players – and especially corporate teams – will register to once again play in this magnificent tournament to enjoy a great afternoon of recreation but specially to support our youth,” said CCAFLIPE spokesperson Pierre Gallant. “Our P.E.I. athletes shined brightly during the Jeux de l’Acadie Finals held in Fredericton, N.B., this past June. We want to give them a chance to shine even brighter at the Finals in Miramichi, N.B., in June 2018.”

The tournament uses a best-ball Mulligan format and play will begin at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start.

The registration fee is $90 per person or $360 per foursome. To register, contact Jeannette Gallant at 902-854-7435 or at jeannettegallant@gov.pe.ca.

Registration is open until Sept. 4.
