CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – The Eastern Maniacs finished strong Wednesday, defeating the A&S Scrap Metal Metros 5-1 Wednesday in Island Junior Hockey League action at Cody Banks Arena.
After a scoreless first period, the Maniacs Alex Gallant gave the visitors a 1-0 lead heading to the third.
Gallant scored twice more in the third for the victory while Andrew Campbell and Blake Jamieson added singles. Hunter MacIntyre had three assists while Jamieson and Eddie Jenkins each had a pair. Alex Chapman and Cole Jenkins each contributed one helper.
Cale Pierce from Tanner Lund and Barrington Duffy replied for the Metros.
Noah Laybolt made 37 saves for the win while Sam Walsh stopped 38 shots in the loss.
The Maniacs improved to 7-21-1 while the Matros are 17-15-1.
