MONCTON, N.B. – Two P.E.I. teams qualified for the playoff round at the Monctonian AAA Challenge hockey tournament.
The Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild lost 3-0 to the Moncton Flyers in an all-New Brunswick/P.E.I. Major Midget Hockey League quarter-final matchup on Saturday night.
In major bantam play, the O’Leary-based Prince County Warriors dropped a 3-0 decision to the Dieppe Flyers in a wild-card game on Saturday morning.
The Wild edged the Markham Majors 1-0 on Saturday morning to complete round-robin play at 2-1-0 (won-lost-tied).
Chase Gaudette, assisted by Ethan Beaulieu and Marc Richard, scored the game’s lone goal at 7:28 of the first period, and Chad Arsenault recorded his second straight shutout for the Wild.
The Flyers scored single goals in each period in the playoff game. Arsenault was in nets for Kensington.
The Charlottetown Bulk Carriers Pride tied the Mississauga Senators 1-1 in their round-robin finale early Saturday afternoon.
Owen MacNeill, assisted by Shaul Mitton and Noah Griffin, tied the game for the Pride in the second period. Ben Parent was in goal for Charlottetown.
The Pride went 1-0-2, and missed qualifying for the playoffs by one goal.

 


Dieppe opened the scoring in the second period, and put the game out of reach with two goals in the final frame. Turner Ellis was between the pipes for Prince County.
P.E.I.’s three other major bantam teams – Central Attack, Eastern Express and Mid-Isle Matrix – all went 0-3-0 in the round robin.
