BOUCHERVILLE, Que. – Noah Dobson of Summerside will play in his third international event in just over a year next month.
The second-year Acadie-Bathurst Titan defenceman has been named to Team Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) for the 2017 CIBC Canada-Russia Series. Team QMJHL will face Russia in two games – the first in Charlottetown on Tuesday, Nov. 14, and the second in Moncton, N.B., on Thursday, Nov. 16.
Also as part of the series, Russia will play a pair of games against teams from both the Ontario Hockey League and Western Hockey League.
Top prospect
A media release issued by the QMJHL describes Dobson as a top prospect for the 2018 National Hockey League Entry Draft. In 12 regular-season games this season, Dobson has 11 assists, 12 penalty minutes and is a plus-5.
The son of Andrew and Jenny Dobson played for Team Canada Red at last year’s World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in late October 2016, and he helped Team Canada win the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup under-18 tournament in August 2017.
Charlottetown Islanders head coach Jim Hulton is an assistant coach with Team QMJHL.
The Canada-Russia games will be televised nationally on both Sportsnet and TVA.
