Manitoba steals four to beat P.E.I.

ST. CATHARINES, ONT. – Manitoba scored four in the fifth and never looked back Wednesday to defeat Prince Edward Island 10-2 at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in St. Catharines, Ont.

The loss dropped the Robyn MacPhee rink from the Charlottetown Curling Complex to 2-5 heading into tonight’s late draw with Northern Ontario (4-3).

The game was tied 2-2 when Manitoba’s Michelle Englot stole four in the fifth. They stole singles the next two ends before adding a deuce in the eighth to end it.

Team P.E.I., comprised of third Sarah Fullerton, second Meaghan Hughes, lead Michelle McQuaid and fifth Rebecca Jean MacDonald, plays Alberta and Newfoundland and Labrador on Thursday.
