HALIFAX – Second-year forward Alex Carson has been honoured for a strong weekend on the basketball court.
The native of Lower Sackville, N.S., has been named this week’s male athlete of the week at Dalhousie University.
Carson, whose family has a cottage at Thunder Cove near Kensington, led the Tigers to a 2-1 (won-lost) record and averaged 20 points at the Queen’s Tindall tournament over the weekend.
Carson opened the tournament with eight points, three rebounds and a steal in the Tigers’ 86-77 loss to host Queen’s on Friday night.
In Saturday’s 80-70 win over the Corcordia Stingers, he collected 14 points and three rebounds.
Sunday, he sank a tournament-high 40 points and added three rebounds and assists, plus two steals and blocks, in Dalhousie’s 109-66 win over the Lethbridge Pronghorns in the final.
Carson is a recreation management student.
