Peakes stop Stratford’s comeback attempt with close win second straight KCBL title

PEAKES, P.E.I. -  The Peakes Tee Bombers scored twice in the first inning and then rode solid pitching to a 2-1 win over the Stratford Alley Athletics in Game 7 of the Kings County Baseball League final on Sunday in Peakes.

Peakes won the best-of-seven championship series 4-3. It had led 3-0 before Stratford won three straight games to tie the series.

Rob Phalen and Tyson McInnis drove in the runs as Peakes picked up its second consecutive KCBL championship. 

Josh Coffin delivered four and one-third solid innings before yielding the mound to Phalen, who closed out the game for Peakes. 

Phalen also picked up playoff MVP honours for the second consecutive year.
