STRATFORD, P.E.I. – Dan O’Shea threw a complete game three-hitter and Allister Smith drove in the lone run as The Alley Stratford Athletics squeaked out a 1-0 win over the Peakes Bombers to open the teams Kings County Baseball League semifinal Wednesday in Stratford.
Game 2 in the best-of-five series goes Tuesday in Morell. First pitch is 7:30 p.m.
O’Shea’s seven strikeouts helped keep the Bombers at bay enough for Smith to whack a clutch two-out RBI single in the fifth inning in what proved to be all of the game’s scoring.
Rob Phelan surrendered just four hits and went the distance in the loss.
Grant Grady tallied two of Stratford’s hits, while Colin Myers, Matt Bradley and Tyson McInnis recorded the Peakes hits.
