Phalen shuts out Athletics in Bombers victory

PEAKES, P.E.I. – The Peakes Tee Bombers moved into a tie with The Alley Stratford Athletics atop the Kings County Baseball League standings with a pair of wins Sunday in Peakes.

In Game 1, the Bombers picked away at Stratford pitcher Dan O’Shea, who allowed 10 hits during seven innings, in a 5-0 win. Rob Phalen pitched the complete game shutout for the Bombers, striking out four while scattering four hits. 

Connor Myers was 3-for-3 with two RBI for the Bombers while Matt Bradley was 3-for-3 with a double and Tyson McInnis went 2-for-3. Allister Smith was 2-4 to pace Stratford while Marshall Ellis and Randy Taylor each went 1-for-3.

In Game 2, the Bombers fought back from a 3-0 deficit, scoring four runs in the fifth inning, to defeat the Northside Brewers 4-3.

Bruce Jay picked up the win, striking out three while allowing three runs in seven innings. Jamie Arsenault allowed only three hits in the losing cause.

Colin Myers went 1-for-2 with an RBI for the Bombers while McInnis was 1-3 with a double and the go-ahead RBI and Bradley 1-3. Darcy Nicholson went 2-for-3 with a solo homerun for the Brewers while Will Jadis was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Seth Nicholson 2-for-3 with a double.
