Peakes Tee offence firing on all cylinders as KCBL final begins

PEAKES, P.E.I. - The Peakes Tee Bombers exploded for 12 runs in the first inning and never looked back as they defeated the Stratford Alley Athletics 15-1 in the opening game of the Kings County Baseball League finals Sunday in Peakes.

The game was called after five innings due to the mercy rule.

The Bombers got to Stratford starter Ronny De La Cruz early, scoring five runs before Steve Collins entered the game in relief.

Top batters for the Bombers were Colin Myers 2-for-3 with a walk, Dillon Doucette 1-for-1 with an RBI and three hit-by-pitches, and Tyson McInnis 1-for-3 with a pair of RBIs. Top batters for the Athletics were Allister Smith 1-for-2 with an RBI, Corey Dougay 1-for-2, and Dominic Ryan 1-for-3.

Josh Coffin scattered four hits to pick up the win for the Bombers. Game two of the finals will be played Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Field in Charlottetown.
