CHARLOTTETOWN – The board of directors of Baseball P.E.I. is proud to announce that Josh Myers has been named the 2018 recipient of the Tanner Craswell and Mitch MacLean Memorial Bursary, valued at $500.
Myers has compiled an impressive resumé in recent years. This summer, he is playing for the P.E.I. Youth Selects, the Summerside Chevys’ 18-under midget AA team and is an affiliate player for the P.E.I. Islanders in the New Brunswick Junior Baseball League.
In the past, Myers has represented Prince Edward Island at several national tournaments, including the Canada Games, Baseball Canada Cup, national 18-under championships, the national 15-under championships and the national Atlantic 13-under championships. He has consistently been one of the top hitters and pitchers on each team he’s played on.
“Josh Myers embodies the criteria of the Tanner Craswell and Mitch MacLean Memorial Bursary as he is an elite player on Baseball P.E.I.’s provincial teams, is a clear leader on all of the teams he is part of and due to his hard work will be playing collegiate baseball in upstate New York this fall,” reads a media release issued by Baseball P.E.I.
The hard work put in by Myers has paid off as he will be attending the SUNY Adirondack Community College in Queensbury, N.Y., this fall to play with their Timberwolves’ team in NCJAA baseball.
However, it isn’t just baseball in which Myers is well-rounded. He is a hard worker and has a reputation as a leader at his alma mater, Three Oaks Senior High School in Summerside. This, combined with his leadership on the baseball field, demonstrates Myers’s leadership abilities.
