Athletics crush

Pirates in KCBL STRATFORD - The Stratford Murphy's Pharmacy Athletics thumped the Charlottetown Paderno Pirates 12-2 in five innings Wednesday night in the Kings County Baseball League. John Walsh went the distance for the win while Brian Burrows suffered the loss. The Athletics were led at the plate by Marshall Ellis, 3-for-4, and by Allistar Smith and Josh Toombs, each with two hits. The Pirates were led by Steve Hayden and Darren Hatfield, each 1-for-3. -- Cannons edge visiting Sluggers The Charlottetown Hunter's Ale House Cannons edged the St. Teresa Peakes Tee Sluggers 3-2 in Kings County Baseball League action Wednesday night at Memorial Field. Tyler Johnson picked up the win while Harrison Carmichael hit 2-for-3 to lead the Cannons. Peter MacLeod and Nigel Fisher were both 2-for-3 for the Sluggers. Darren Mitchell was tagged with the loss. -- Coffin powers Chevies to win MORELL - Troy Coffin hit a two-run double to key a four-run first inning as the Morell Chevies dumped the Peakes Bombers 5-0 Wednesday in the Kings County Baseball League. Coffin also added a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth, as he hit 2-for-3 with three RBIs in the game. Scott Ellsworth, Jarrod Laybolt and Grant Doyle had the other Chevies hits. Leading the Bombers were Matt MacDonald, 2-for-3, Neal Morrison and Colin Myers, both 1-for-3. Quen Johnston was the winning pitcher. Josh Coffin took the loss.
