The Charlottetown Gaudet’s Auto Body Islanders have taken home-field advantage away from the Fredericton Royals.

The Isles defeated the Royals 7-3 Saturday night in Game 1 New Brunswick Senior Baseball League final in Fredericton, N.B.

Game 2 of the best-of-seven series is Sunday at 4 p.m. at Memorial Field in Charlottetown.

The Islanders scored single runs in the first two innings and had a five-run fifth.

Dylan McKenna was 3-for-4 for the Islanders while Dillon Doucette had a three-run home run and Morgan Maclean a two-run double.

Jordan Stevenson threw the complete game win, scattering five hits. Two of the three runs he allowed were unearned.

Fredericton flew Jake Shaw home from school in Kentucky to pitch. He allowed all seven runs and left without registering an out in the fifth.
