For more than 25 years, my wife Betsy and I have come to the Island each summer from our home in Cincinnati, Ohio. For most of those years, we have enjoyed our home we restored between Morell and St. Peter’s along St. Peter’s Bay in Midgell.
Each year, we anticipate returning with great expectations and each year is better than we might ever have hoped. The views are stunning: land and water and sky are ever-changing patchworks of vibrant color; the music reflective of the Gaelic and Scottish heritage with ceilidhs - imaginative and exciting; the cuisine superb, whether prepared with local food at home or in restaurants throughout the province; our walks on the splendid Confederation Trail; and the city market where the crowds are as interesting as the offerings. Each opportunity is special in its own way.
Best of all, though, are the people. Though we are certainly “from away,” we always feel welcome and welcomed. The spirit of warmth and kindness is the norm and this consistent civility and friendliness warms our hearts, motivates us to encourage others to visit, and makes us look forward to returning each year.
We thank you more than we can say.
