LETTER: Transportation essential service

 ..
..

I read that Greyhound is cutting off service to remote communities in northern B.C. due to lower ridership because governments are providing subsidies to private bus services between the urban routes where they can make a profit.

The hundreds of miles long "highway of tears" should have government subsidization to the company, which has served our remote areas for generations.
The wealth, which is amassed in the comfort of our urban centers, should be shared with those whose lives are spent in harvesting our natural resources and raising our next generations. Public transportation is an essential service and should like clean air and water and public education be available to all citizens.
It is the function of government to distribute the wealth and to keep the big from gobbling up the small, not to help them do it.
