LETTER: A study in contrasts

The contrast of two stories that appeared in The Guardian on September 2nd caught my attention: "Six young mothers die," and "Duffy is angry."

The first story tells us about six young mothers who lost their lives this year because our health care system failed to identify the mental distress of these mothers of young babies. More resources and money is needed to support young mothers and their families. Yet, instead much of the hard-earned taxpayer money is being paid out to those who seek to sue the government for the perceived wrongs done to them.
The Bible says in 1 Timothy 6:10 that "the love of money is the root of all evil and some people craving money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows. There is a principle in the Bible about lawsuits. For believers, matters of dispute should be decided among themselves.
Regardless of whether or not Duffy deserves compensation, the amount of monies being sought appears to be greed, pure and simple.
