LETTER: Daily monitoring sounds ominous

Published on September 11, 2017

In a small sidebar news item in today’s paper (“No change to gas prices Friday: IRAC”), the last line causes me concern:” IRAC will monitor prices daily.”

Does this mean they can adjust them daily? If wholesale prices drop, does this mean they will drop pump prices immediately? That seems to be the way price increases work.
I would like to ask Premier MacLauchlan to publicly explain how this regulatory body works. Never mind sending an IRAC spokesman to the microphone; they have absolutely no credibility in the minds of many Islanders.
That’s like asking the school bully who started the fight.
