Political parties served purpose
I agree with Anne Gallant’s letter. Political parties have fully served whatever use they once had and it is now time to move on.
Kudos to Premier Wade MacLauchlan for his courageous stance on electoral reform, which is the opposite of cowardly.
Green Party Leader Peter Bevan-Baker’s emotional reaction to the plebiscite was surprisingly ill-mannered.
David Bulger explained the constitutional facts of the matter in his Guardian article.
His conclusion was “This much is certain, a constitutional amendment on a bare majority of votes casts, or 20 per cent of the eligible voters is unthinkable. And the decision of the government not to accept the results of a non-binding plebiscite on a constitutional matter is entirely correct.”
Let's hope that everyone will calm down and be rational.
