Re: Afghanistan veteran says support needed for brain injury survivors (The Guardian). My brother, Gary Mulligan has a head injury from a motorcycle accident in 1978 when he was 18 years old. He is now 58.
Gary is now in Community Head Injury Resource Services (CHIRS), in a group home, in Scarborough, Ont., and has 24 hour per day support around him. And he has a lot of family support as well.
Gary has a very rewarding life and is involved in the community, visiting patients with Alzheimer's, support group, etc.
We, as a family, need to advocate for all persons with head injuries. We need more supports for them here in P.E.I.
Please tell the story of your loved ones journey, suffering from head-injuries
Bernadette Mulligan,
Kinkora
