EDITOR:

Having recently moved to Stratford from Toronto, the frequency and almost predictability of accidents that occur on the Hillsborough Bridge is anything but shocking. It’s an issue with distracted, inexperienced drivers merging into an urban/rural junction.

I have witnessed repeatedly drivers on their cell phones or staring out at the river. They often display signs of aggressive, inconsiderate driving, which not only impedes the flow of traffic but exasperates those that are trying to ease safely in and out of the city center.

There are a series of issues which both municipalities need to address, but the solution lies deeper than just throwing up signs or monitoring traffic flow, it’s about better driver education and behavior first and foremost.
