Just what Charlottetown needs - yet another fast food restaurant. I’m referring here to a new Wendy’s about to be built on St. Peter’s Road near Leon’s furniture store. It’s also close to one of the busiest and most poorly designed intersections at St. Peter’s Rd., Belvedere Ave. and Brackley Point Rd.
This intersection is supposed to be reconfigured into, yes, another roundabout, the construction of which will cause major disruptions in the traffic flow. That may be compounded by drive-thru traffic entering and leaving the new Wendy’s.

I guess city planners did their due diligence in granting a building permit here, but it looks to me that they have rarely seen a new business plan they didn’t like.
On the question of fast food places, how many do we really need anyway? There’s already at least three, plus a couple of regular restaurants in that immediate area. If you take in the greater Charlottetown area and nearby communities, there is likely close to 100 restaurants of one type or another.
It seems we’ve become an eat-out society. Most of what is consumed, especially at fast food establishments, would not be on health Canada’s healthy eating guide. I wonder what is the saturation point (pun intended).
