Two recent visits to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s X-ray department in recent months were very alarming.

A visit in September, a large sign read “Last month, 276 people failed to come for their appointment or to cancel.” A visit in November, the sign read “Last month 171 people failed to come for their appointment or cancel.”

This means almost 450 people had to wait longer for their diagnoses because these folks failed to be responsible enough to keep their appointment, along with the cost involved to the health care system for missed appointments and rescheduling.

People need to be more responsible for their own health.
