To clear up any misunderstanding created by Ole Hammarlund’s letter of March 19, I submit to the readers the position of the NDP P.E.I., regarding democratic representation. The NDP’s leaders take direction from caucus and party members, not the opposite, as was claimed in the letter.
Island New Democrat’s policies are developed democratically at annual convention, based on concerns and aspirations of Islanders. Voters are presented with a clear policy platform of our party during elections. Elected New Democrats and party spokespersons address particular emerging issues in constituency/province, based on the policies and values democratically developed by Islanders.
