STORY CONTINUES BELOW THESE SALTWIRE VIDEOS
Your front-page article (“MLAs getting 1.5 per cent wage hike”) must have some people’s blood boiling. We have a shortage of doctors, teachers, our schools need expansion, and many Islanders are still going hungry on “Canada’s Food Island.”
You mention the fact that “Island MLAs make 82 per cent of the average (salary) of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.” If you’re going to put in comparisons, you should use more than one. Here’s another for you:
Citizens per MLA in New Brunswick: approximately 15,000;
Citizens per MLA in Nova Scotia: approximately 18,000;
Citizens per MLA in P.E.I.: approximately 5,500;
Looks a little different from that angle, doesn’t it?
