EDITOR:
When starving French peasants lacked bread, history tells us Marie Antoinette advised: Let them eat cake! Obviously. she had no concept of their condition.
However, Jeanne Louise Calment of Arles, France, was born in 1875 and lived until age 122. Perhaps lacking bread, she advised something else and attributed her longevity to daily consumption of large amounts of chocolates, apparently several pounds at a time I believe.
Dark chocolate slashes your stroke risk by 48 per cent, according to a piece in the magazine Woman's World. Milk chocolate keeps you smart. No word on whether it makes you smart if you are not already and eating any kind of candy helps you live longer than people who don't eat candy.
So, there you go, enjoy yourself. Don't feel guilty, you are promoting good health - sort of. Dentists will love you.
